Our Mission:
To recognize the remarkable people the sport of windsurfing for fame, achievement, character, longevity, and their contribution to the sport.
We now have an established voting process involving a ballot sent to the current WHOF Inductees (weighed 70%) and a popular vote from the established Windsurfing Hall of Fame FB Group (weighed 30%). The results are what you see here on this site; an established institution, an all encompassing selection of windsurfing elites and supporting cast of board shapers, sailmakers, innovators, media, and pioneers. Spanning the multiple disciplines of our sport and widely accepted; it is and forever will now be, the WINDSURFING HALL OF FAME!
WHOF EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, CLIFF WEBB
CLIFF WEBB, now serving as the Executive Director for the Windsurfing Hall of Fame, has been involved with the sport for over 40 years as both an avid windsurfer, journalist and TV Events Producer. While covering the first events in the formative year of the professional windsurfing world tour, he was then was appointed official Tour photographer, producing reports and photos of the events for magazines and newspapers globally. Cliff was invited to take the role of Media Director when PBA International was created, evolving this for over five years before establishing his own TV production company. He was also involved in helping form the Professional Windsurfers Association in 1996, which took over from the PBA. His present production company, 1080 Media TV was established fifteen years ago and is renowned for water sports and other coverage worldwide. He’s again supporting PWA events with live online news and highlights coverage. Cliffs goals are to gain more industry support and elevate the Windsurfing Hall of Fame to concrete status.
The Windsurfing Hall of Fame was founded by photographer, filmmaker, and lifelong windsurfer, Jonathan Weston. He served as President for the first three years, shaping the voting process with the help of the original Selection Committee members. As well, he gathered and edited content, designed the website, and promoted the WHOF to media outlets. As a photographer, he was published internationally and won the coveted NPPA Sports Photo of the Year in 1990. As filmmaker, his projects included Impact Zone, Windsurf the Earth, Double or Nothing, and Wind Legends. Author of several books including the coffee table book, Impact Zone and more recently, the five star reviewed Maui Glory Days. When not working, he now focuses on travel photography in France and enjoying a windsurfing life.
